The Inventory Controller is responsible for owning the implementation and local application adherence of the Global Inventory Policy across all Japan inventory locations including and 3rd Party Distribution Centers (DCs). You will work with the Finance Director to drive scalable and effective internal financial controls related to inventory accounting at all owned and 3rd party DCs through internal transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities
Support IT and be the main finance lead on transforming all inventory related systems to ensure accurate reporting on inventory valuation, accounting, provision and margins for all segments, stores, sites and product categories
Oversee regular full stocktakes and inventory audits at owned and 3rd party DC’s. Perform sample counts and provide feedback to ops team on count procedures with proper audit trail establishment (completeness - front to end reconciliation, proper segregation of duties, classification, authorization, cut off, occurrence).
Ensure all inventory accounting adjustments are validated with relevant supporting data and approved within financial systems and SOX balance sheet sign-offs
Develop a new suite of inventory analysis reports consistent with Inventory accounting reporting performed by the UK and US finance and accounting team – including aging analysis, inventory provisions analysis, calculation and recommendations in line with Group accounting policies
Preparation of all inventory related balance sheet recs including GRNI (Goods received not invoiced) and Inventory provision and posting the relevant and required journals into the accounting system on a monthly basis.
Lead to facilitate Error/Incident/exceptional report, I,e, returns, damages. Also aging analysis
Take ownership of financial account balances at period end (existence, right and obligations, completeness, accuracy, validation and allocation)
Requirements
3-5 year experiences in accounting with an inventory holding company, OR audit in an Public accounting firm, OR internal audit job experience
Language: Fluent Japanese, Business level English (reading & writing
Ability to reconcile front to end data, to assure stock counts to report data.
Database management skills.
Ability to work with Operation, Merchandizing, Supply chain and Sales with Financial/Audit backbone.
